José Carrillo-Hidalgo studies various topics on evolutionary and behavioural ecology of birds of prey in the Canary Islands, taking the Common Kestrel as the species model. His studies approach, especially, eco-behavioural aspects related with breeding biology. Currently, he is performing studies on eco-toxicology, inter-island morphological variations, and a long-term project on the influence of nest-site selection and weather on breeding success.
