Carina Nebel is a PhD student at the FitzPatrick Institute of African Ornithology in Cape Town, South Africa. As part of her thesis, she explores the maintenance of colour polymorphism in an urban raptor, the Black Sparrowhawk. Before migrating south to do her PhD at the Fitz, she worked at the Natural History Museum Vienna on population and conservation genetics.
