Heraldo V. Norambuena is a Chilean ornithologist and evolutionary biologist interested in systematics and biogeography of Neotropical birds. He obtained his PhD from Universidad de Concepción (Chile) where he studied the systematics and phylogeography of Neotropical Pipits (Anthus spp.). He is currently a researcher at the Centro Bahía Lomas of Universidad Santo Tomás in Chile. Heraldo is editor-in-chief of the birding magazine “La Chiricoca”.

Paul van Els is a Dutch ornithologist and evolutionary biologist interested in the ecology and evolution of Neotropical birds, particularly birds of grass-dominated ecosystems. He obtained his PhD from the University of Groningen (Netherlands). He is especially interested in the timing and spatiality of diversification of this group in relation to the vicariant events that shaped the South American savannas and to the life history characteristics inherent to a life in open habitats with a high degree of seasonal climatic variation.
