João is a researcher focused on ecology and conservation, mainly with birds. He developed his PhD on species interactions in mixed bird colonies established in artificial structures in Southeast Portugal, addressing some consequences of group living and how these could affect the conservation of Lesser Kestrels and European Rollers. He is currently participating in the BIOPOLIS project to understand the movement ecology of Montagu’s Harrier (Circus pygargus) in Portugal.
