Stephen Willis is a Professor of Ecology and Conservation at Durham University, where he is a member of the Conservation Ecology Group. His research interests span many taxa and systems but with a keen interest in ornithology. He works principally on how to conserve species, which frequently requires considerations of anthropogenic impacts and climate change on systems. Examples of ongoing research include: projecting climate-driven biodiversity changes in the Arctic, exploring millennial changes to Antarctic Snow Petrels, simulating trans-continental avian migration, using acoustic monitoring to census birds, future proofing protected areas networks, and optimising zoological collections to incorporate climate-imperilled species.
