Vitek Jirinec is currently a PhD candidate in the School of Renewable Natural Resources at Louisiana State University, USA. Originally from Prague, he is pursuing a career in ecology across the Atlantic with a focus on birds, especially in the tropics. He earned a BSc degree in Wildlife at Humboldt State University and a MSc in Biology at the College of William & Mary – the latter for work he described in another blog post. Bird research has also sent him to Alaska’s arctic, Hawaii, Costa Rica, and Jamaica, among other locations.
