Auriel M.V. Fournier, PhD, is currently a postdoctoral research associate at Mississippi State University working as part of the Gulf of Mexico Avian Monitoring Network where she works on the use of structured decision making to inform setting priorities for monitoring and research in the Gulf of Mexico in response to the Deep Water Horizon oil spill. She completed her PhD on the autumn migration ecology of rails, of which this paper is apart, at the University of Arkansas in 2017, and still studies Rallidae ecology.
