Bhawani Sabat is a PhD researcher at the Sálim Ali Centre for Ornithology and Natural History, India. Her work focuses on the morphological and molecular forensics of Galliformes, with a broader interest in wildlife crime investigation and conservation biology. She works extensively with microscopy and mitochondrial DNA to improve species identification where only partial remains are available. Beyond this, she is passionate about population studies, diet studies through fecal dropping, and ethno-ornithology. Outside academia, she enjoys birdwatching, travelling, wildlife photography, dancing, sketching and journaling.
