Delip K. Das is a Bangladeshi ornithologist and PhD candidate at the University of Groningen, currently on study leave from his position as Assistant Professor at Jagannath University, Dhaka. His current research focuses on the migration ecology of Black-tailed Godwits along the Asian Flyways. Earlier in his career, he studied various threatened waterbirds, exploring their non-breeding habitat use. Delip leads a pioneering research group, Delta Sentinels, investigating how migratory birds of the Bengal Delta serve as sentinels to monitor ecosystem changes both within the delta and across Asian landscapes. He is passionate about telling the stories of these delta sentinels to raise awareness of their ecological importance. Delip also serves as conference coordinator for the International Wader Study Group (IWSG), dedicating his spare time to connecting shorebird researchers worldwide. Outside of research, he enjoys bird watching, wildlife photography, strolling in nature, swimming, and reading.
