In all of Elle Kaye’s endeavours, she attempts to be a mouthpiece that advocates for a better world. Her entire life’s work orientates around the preservation and conservation of the natural world. This passion underpins everything she does; through over a dedicated decade of practice she sees her work as a contribution to taxonomy which ultimately helps to leave a legacy for science. With the changes to biodiversity on earth, taxidermy might be our last remaining connection to the animals we so deeply cherish. Her mission is to communicate the utility and relevance of taxidermy but to also highlight the aesthetic beauty of birds in the hope people might bring them into their homes and deepen their relationship to nature. Through various teaching and mentorship platforms she endeavours to make the industry more accessible and diverse and to break the stigma around what it is to be a taxidermist today. Her experience and unique work allows her to be a barbell between science, conservation and communication.
