Esteban currently works as Director of Conservation Science at SELVA: Research for Conservation in the Neotropics. He is also a Guest Scientist at the Max Planck Institute for Ornithology and a Research Associate at the Smithsonian Migratory Bird Center. As part of the IUCN Species Survival Commission, he is part of the IUCN Bird Red List Authority in South America. He combines the conceptual frameworks from movement ecology and population genetics to answer multilevel ecological questions, from individuals to populations/species, while aiming at generating useful information for biodiversity conservation.
