Marcos Rodrigues is a biologist and did his doctorate at the University of Oxford studying the breeding biology of chiffchaffs. He is now a professor of zoology at the Federal University of Minas Gerais in Belo Horizonte, southeastern Brazil, where he conducts research in the area of animal behavior and ecology with emphasis on bird species. He has published more than 100 scientific papers and is also author of the book The Birds of the Island of Santa Catarina, published in 2000.
