Nelson Buainain is a PhD candidate at Instituto Nacional de Pesquisas da Amazônia (INPA), in Manaus. He currently investigates the diversification of the Arremon sparrows in the Neotropical region using Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data and how congruent the phenotype and song variations observed in the Pectoral Sparrow are with partially genomic data (DDRad). His main lines of research are evolution, taxonomy, bioacoustics and feeding behavior of birds.
