Richard is an FWO doctoral fellow, affiliated with the University of Antwerp, Belgium, and Comenius University in Bratislava, Slovakia. His research interests lie in the field of behavioural ecology, especially of crepuscular and nocturnal birds, using the European Nightjar (Caprimulgus europaeus) as a model system. The primary focus of his PhD project is to investigate the impact of astronomical light pollution (skyglow) on the communication patterns of this species. In his free time, Richard is an avid birder, ringer and naturalist interested in essentially any living organism.
