Johannes Kamp has been working on the ecology and conservation of steppe birds in Kazakhstan for the past ten years. He was based at the RSPB Centre for Conservation Science during his PhD. He is now at the Institute of Landscape Ecology, University of Münster (Germany), where his work focuses on the effects of changing land-use on biodiversity.

Thijs Fijen led the experimental work on Black Larks in Kazakhstan in 2013 as part of his MSc studies at Wageningen University. He has recently started a PhD looking into the relative importance of wild pollinators as an agricultural input (with Prof. David Kleijn).
