Yuji is the Specialist of Crested Ibis Conservation in Japan. He obtained his PhD from Rikkyo University where he studied behavioral ecology of the Narcissus Flycatcher Ficedula narcissina. After a postdoc at Rikkyo University, he joined the Ministry of the Environment for the Conservation of the Crested Ibis. He was in charge of the scientific evaluation of the Crested Ibis conservation and propagation programme and worked with locals to make the programme a success. He moved to the University of Human Environment in 2022 to educate conservation biologists.
