Daniel is a Senior Conservation Biologist for the Resource Conservation District of the Santa Monica Mountains, based in the Los Angeles area of southern California, USA. He was formerly the Conservation Director for Audubon California, and worked for nearly two decades as an independent ecologist in the region, focusing on bird and habitat conservation. In 2017, he and colleagues launched the volunteer-based “Los Angeles Raptor Study” to better understand the ecology of locally-nesting raptors, which is currently (2022) tracking more than 400 active nesting territories across the city.
