David Pereira is an ornithologist, with a strong focus on island bird conservation. He has extensive field experience, having conducted surveys on two endemic island birds of the Bahamas — Bahama Warbler and Bahama Nuthatch. He has also surveyed Eleonora’s Falcon in Antikythera Island, Greece, and neotropical bird communities in the cloud forests of Cusuco National Park, Honduras. He continues to make a range of efforts to raise awareness of species risk of extinction by hurricanes. As of 2026, he is a PhD researcher at the University of Birmingham, UK, where he is “Assessing biodiversity change on islands through time.”
