Pedro Miguel Araújo is currently a researcher at MARE – Marine and Environmental Sciences Centre of University of Coimbra. He is an ecologist with deep interest in dynamics of migratory populations, and its role for the conservation of compositional, structural and functional biodiversity. His model systems are avian migrants, and he soon realised that studying bird migration requires good international links, as species span over large geographical ranges, as well as access to novel technologies that allow movements to be tracked, in combination with eco-physiological parameters. After obtaining his doctoral degree in Ecology (2015) by the University of Coimbra, he established long-lasting collaborations with a network of top researchers from Iceland, United Kingdom, Spain and Portugal.
