Vanesa De Pietri is a palaeontologist from Flinders University, South Australia, currently working on fossil birds from Australasia, particularly from the interval spanning the latter part of the Oligocene and the Miocene Epoch (ca. 28–5.3 Ma). De Pietri got her PhD from the University of Bern, Switzerland in December 2011 and has continued her research on the fossil birds of France at the Natural History Museum Basel, and the Senckenberg Research Institute in Frankfurt, Germany. Current projects include the Early Miocene birds from the St Bathans fauna, NZ, and other Cenozoic assemblages from Australia and NZ.
