Thomas is interested in the impacts of climate warming on migratory animals traveling to the Arctic, and how they can cope by adjusting their migration strategies. He is studying these questions in a range of species, most importantly waterfowl and shorebirds. He is currently working at the Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research.
