Marie Claire is a Maltese avian ecologist, specialised in seabird movement ecology and life history traits. She obtained her PhD from the University of Lisbon, Portugal, and is a post-doctoral associate of the Università degli Studi di Milano, Italy. Much of her research career has centred around the seabirds of the Mediterranean, Macaronesia, and the Alaskan sub-arctic. She is also a grassroots activist in Malta, and enjoys rock climbing, sometimes in combination with accessing seabird colonies on cliffs and rocky islets.
