Alejandro is currently a Senior Lecturer in Ecology at Universidade da Coruña in northwestern Spain. He was previously a Parga-Pondal Researcher for the same institution and a JAE-doc Researcher for the Spanish National Council of Research (CSIC). He is broadly concerned with the interaction between ecology, evolution and conservation, and his current work spans the ecological consequences of the abandonment of the rural world on animal abundance, distribution and behaviour. He is the author of four popular science books and some 100 scientific papers.
