Carles Carboneras has recently completed his PhD with the University of Barcelona and the Population Ecology Group at IMEDEA (CSIC-UIB) in Mallorca, Spain. He studied the population ecology of a migratory species from the perspective of a wintering area, looking at the population composition, structure and dynamics across several spatial scales, and the link between the wintering and breeding areas through connecting migratory routes. Carles has worked for RSPB / BirdLife International in the Global Seabird Programme and as EU lead on invasive species. From February, he will be managing the RSPB International Migrants Programme.
