Rich Howells is a PhD student at the Centre for Hydrology & Ecology in Edinburgh. His PhD utilises long-term European Shag Phalacrocorax aristotelis diet and demographic data collected over five decades as part of the Isle of May Long Term Study. His research focuses on detecting temporal trends in key demographic parameters, including diet, and testing the underlying determinants, including extrinsic conditions, such as climate, and intrinsic mechanisms, such as carry-over effects. Rich is an active ringer and keen brewer.
