Alana’s research compares the nutritional value of known albacore tuna prey across the California Current System. Ultimately, I want to know if variation in prey nutrition is explained by temporal and regional environmental conditions and the extent to which the combination affects albacore’s prey selection. Prior to joining the Green Lab, I completed an interdisciplinary undergraduate honours degree in Environmental Biology at the University of Saskatchewan. In addition to studying killdeer integumentary colour, I used GIS to identify opportunities for grain farmers to increase ecosystem services and processed fish bone samples from Viking middens to help monitor climate changes.
