Raquel Ponti obtained her PhD in Biology at the University of Barcelona and most of her research was developed at the National Museum of Natural Sciences in Madrid, Spain. The main goals in her research are investigating the mechanisms of bird migration and evaluate the shifts in migratory distances through time, under global climatic changes in an evolutionary context. She is also interested in studying the behaviour and evolution of other groups, as well as global biogeography and ecology.
