Heather Fortune (she/her) is editor of #theBOUBlog and an MRes student at Imperial College London, researching avian bioacoustics across an Amazonian forest restoration landscape as part of the CaLE Lab. Before this, she worked as a Species Policy Officer for the RSPB, where she contributed to policy efforts supporting the protection and recovery of UK species. She holds a BSc in Ecology & Conservation from the University of St Andrews, where she received a scholarship upon graduation that enabled her to undertake a self-led ornithological research project, ‘Fight for Flight’ (www.fightforflight2023.wordpress.com), investigating anthropogenic pressures on bird species across Eurasia. This involved collaboration with Birdlife International and local partners across seven different countries, with the aim of using art to inspire a broader and more diverse audience to engage with birds and their conservation.
