BOU Low- and Middle-income Country (LMIC) members

We have a limited number of free conference places available to BOU Low- and Middle-income Country members. This includes conference registration, lunch and refreshments. Members would still be required to fund their travel to/from the conference and any additional accommodation and meals.

Priority will be given to BOU LMIC members presenting at the conference.

To apply for one of these places, please send a brief outline detailing why you would benefit (to include a brief biography, an explanation of what you stand to gain from participating, and the financial constraints you face) to admin@bou.org.uk

Online attendance as part of a hub

Individuals can register to attend as part of a hub; that is, two or more people watching the online conference together at the same location. Each individual viewing the conference as part of a hub will need to register using the ‘hub individual’ option, either as a BOU member or a non-member. Hubs can comprise a mixture of members and non-members (although prices, as always, are reduced for members).

This option is intended to facilitate watching an online conference together with friends and colleagues in the same physical location, giving attendees the opportunity to create their own conference atmosphere, whilst still having the ability to interact individually.

Each individual will receive a link to attend the conference online (Microsoft Teams), and be able to participate as an individual.

Each hub will be responsible for organising their own hub set-up, including the hub location, the viewing facilities and coordinating which individuals are part of their hub. You do not need to notify us who is attending your hub, but anyone attending a hub must register, and anyone registering as a hub participant must attend as part of a hub.

Of course, if you are unable or do not wish to view the conference as part of a hub, we still have the standard, non-hub individual attendance option, and of course the in-person attendance option.

If you are interested in organising a hub, please get in touch with us.

Visit the Natural History Museum’s bird collections at Tring
  • There are two half-day visits to the NHM’s bird collections at Tring planned for Wednesday 19 November (the day after the conference in London). Each half-day visit will consist of a guided tour of the various bird collections led by members of NHM’s curatorial team.
  • Delegates will be able to register for either a morning or afternoon visit, at no additional cost. There will be 12 places available on each, and they’ll be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
  • Delegates will need to bring Government photo identification with them (e.g. driving licence, ID card, passport).
  • Delegates will need to make their own way to the museum at Tring (Akeman Street, Tring, Hertfordshire HP23 6AP) or to Tring railway station. Transport to and from Tring railway station will be provided to delegates who need it.
  • Food won’t be provided, but there are a number of options available in Tring town centre, which is a short, 10 min walk from the museum.

Register for Tring visit

Confirmation of a place on a Tring tour will be provided closer to the conference date, alongside further practical details.
