As part of our drive to make IBIS more accessible and inclusive, we are introducing additional language abstracts. From 1 December 2021, on submission authors will be able to include a second abstract in either their native language (i.e. any language of one of the authors) or a language relevant to the country in which the research took place. It will be up to the author(s) to determine which language would best suit their paper. The additional abstract will be published with the online version of the article but will not be included in the PDF. These additional language abstracts will not be copy-edited and will be published as provided by the authors. Further details are in our submission guidelines.

IBIS will use the system recently introduced by our publisher, Wiley-Blackwell, when including the additional language abstract in the published online version – see this example from Molecular Ecology. The English language abstract will be automatically displayed but for those articles featuring an additional language abstract the two-letter identification code for that country/language will be displayed alongside the EN icon at the top right of the abstract (circled on the image right).
